What We Do
Utilizing technology of internet
- Create website: The internet is one of the tools we use to achieve the objectives and goals of our organization. We created the website of the organization and from the 10/01/2008, located in the internet at http://www.bestrong.org.gr. Utilizing technology of internet, provide psychosocial support services, where anyone can come in contact even anonymously, with our scientific team through an online communication platform that we have created on our website (Chat Support). Very important role also plays for many people, the section of our website with the Be STRONG stories. Cancer survivors stories of hope, who inpsire and give strength to other people. Finally, it is worth noting that our site has so far received 3 million unique visitors, according to data from google analytics, who have raised awareness-information and support from our organization.
- Creating the first Online Forum - Online Community: Staying true to our commitments, ten months after the operation of the site, organization Be STRONG, in November 2008, launched for the first time in Greece, the operation of the first Domain Forum, to support the people involved with cancer. Something like there was for Greek standards and has more value the fact that the establishment of this Forum, being derived from a non-profit organization that provides information and support to those who are involved with cancer. From April 2012 as part of the upgrade of our website, launched a new platform for communication between people involved with cancer, creating a complete Online community. So far recorded over 2000 members and are supported by sharing their experiences.
- Participation in social networking websites: Participation in online communities, is essential if we want to be within the developments and not just be observers. Besides communicating with other people experiencing the same experience with us, as proppant, which know only those who have done practice. We operate as an organization with a presence in social networking sites, in order to inform, information, support, awareness of young people and not only. These communities are: Facebook, Flickr, You Tube, Twitter, Linked e.t. Our presence for the first time held in the social networking site fecebook in March 2008. To date more than 70,000 have become our members just not counting on Facebook, other social networking sites. Many members have contacted the organization and supported by mental health specialists.
Utilizing technology of telecommunications
Since January 2010, on the initiative of the nonprofit organization Be STRONG, works for the first time in Greece, the National Support Help Line of people involved with cancer 1069. This was for the first time in Greece, there is a four-digit number support for people involved with cancer. To date over 6000 people involved with the cancer got help from line 1069

Believing in the power of collaboration and having as main target man, the organization embarked on a unique partnership that benefits that went beyond the borders of Greece...
The Greek organization Be STRONG, in collaboration with the Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients "ELA-ZO" and the telecommunications company CYTA, presented the free line psychosocial support, the people involved with cancer in Cyprus, with the four-digit number 1469.
The official opening of the line 1469, held Friday, September 23, 2011, in the auditorium of CYTA in Nicosia, at a press conference for all media in the presence of Minister of Health of Cyprus and President of CYTA.
This action lasted one year from September 2011 to September 2012, since then the ELAZO, provided the service autonomously from Cyprus.
Event Planning & Participation
The organization of conferences and information events aimed directly contact the organization Be STRONG with the general public, to inform and raise awareness on issues related to cancer.
It should be noted here that for the first time in Greece celebrated the National Cancer Survivors Day, a celebration honoring the world for years, every first Sunday of June, a non-profit organization.
At an event organized entitled "Power Stories" on June 5, 2011, the Duke schools under the auspices of the international nonprofit National Cancer Survivors Day, a crowd was present, honoring all those who give or have given their battle life.
Our organization, organizes and participates in public awareness seminars, awareness, s motivation and encouragement. The founder of the organization Panayiotis Michail, attends as a speaker at seminars and events organized throughout Greece either by companies or by schools or educational organizations, or clubs, where guest.
Through his speeches transmits his passion for life, inspiring people, laying down his own personal experience, while also stresses the importance of prevention in relation to cancer.
Media
The media play a very important role in cancer, how the public can be informed either objectively or subjectively according to stereotypes, ignorance of each journalist.
Our goal is to involve the organization in the media to raise public awareness in relation to preventing and demystifying cancer, which a large percentage of Greek society, believes that a cancer diagnosis automatically mean death.
The organization through its founder, Panayiotis Michael, hosted several times both in form - electronic press, and on television and radio. He shared his personal experience, since it is inextricably linked with the establishment of nonprofit Be STRONG.
He gave many battles for the demystification of cancer in Greece, setting the objective information on the table of discussion to understand the media that cancer has a name and it is NOT "Damned Disease".
European recognition
The European School of Oncology, European School of Oncology, under the tender "CANCER ON THE INTERNET" AWARD 2010, awarded second place "MENTION OF HONOUR", the Greek organization STAY STRONG, stressing the fact that the information but the support & gives the Greek society deserve recognition.
The aim of the prize was to raise awareness about the evolution of the Internet and the impact of social media networks in the community of cancer patients, the recognition of organizations and groups that have provided quality and easy to use platform for communication over the internet .
Social media networks offer patients, survivors, family and friends means to connect with others, share information, experiences and ideas, to explore their fears, identify resources, find support and produce better-informed decisions. They strengthen the community of patients with cancer.
